Reflections

The Reflections Art Competition is a National PTA program that starts at the school level. Each year, students are invited to create original works of art around a theme. Local artists and art educators evaluate the pieces.

The top-scoring works advance to the district level, with the opportunity to advance to the state and even national levels of competition.

ART CATEGORIES

All students are invited to submit work on the theme in the art categories of Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Film/Video, and Choreography/Dance.

• Literature – works of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, prose, drama, short stories and lyrics.
• Music Composition – original musical composition, with or without words.
• Photography: color or black and white, included techniques: photogram, negative sandwich, and multiple exposure.
• Visual Arts: drawing, painting in tempera, oil, acrylic, watercolor & t-shirt paints, computer generated art, two-dimensional collage, printmaking, needlework & leather tooling.
• Film/Video: original works, with or without sound, of animation, narrative, documentary, experimental or music video/film.
• Choreography/Dance: originally choreographed dance composition.

All entries with completed forms are due to the front office by Friday, October 17, 2025.  Students can submit in any or all categories (one entry per category, please.) Digital files can be submitted via email to: rlcptsa@gmail.com.

Please be sure your student’s entry follows the submission rules, paying close attention to size limits and formats accepted. Don’t forget to include the a Title and Artist Statement on the entry form (100 words or less) - it is given significant weight in the judges' scoring!

AWARDS CELEBRATIONS

Save the date! All entries will be displayed, and all students who enter will be celebrated at our Pottery Night on Thursday, November 13th.

Top scoring pieces will advance to compete at the Riverview PTSA Council competition.
